The Edge of Hope (Bad Blood I) by Alina Popescu
The Edge of Hope is the debut novel of writer Alina Popescu, the first book in the Bad Blood Trilogy, a story of vampires, love, struggles, and a constant fight for survival.
Edge of Hope (Bad Blood I)
When tall, dark, and gorgeous shows up on your self-prescribed emotional recovery vacation, some would call it fate smiling down on you. If he also happens to be interested in your work and ready to make all the room you need in his life, it starts to sound too good to be true. Alexa skips the doubts and jumps right in, only to be thrown into the mysterious world of vampires.
The secrets of their origin and their very existence are far more important than her life to some of her new acquaintances. They are ancient, they are powerful, they have unlimited resources, and they are keen on controlling what the world knows of their kind. As Alexa discovers their complicated, blood feud bound world, she tries to better understand herself, heal old wounds and give love chance after chance. Will she survive the journey?

My 5 star review of The Edge of Hope:
Warning this book has major cliff hanger will leave you eager for more.

First of can i just OMG WOW!!!!! This is the first book i have read of Alina’s and i hope we wont be waiting to long for book 2 in the bad blood series.
I was hooked straight away from the first few chapters of this vampire story. I love how strong Alexa’s is and how she doesn’t take any crap from anybody. I felt like i was there with her and all the other characters, Anthony is hot as hell and what he appears to be at all, which found very great twist to the story with that one, Louis is another Hot sexy vampire who is strong and sweet and seems to be the hero.
At times i didn’t want to but this book down i was gripped on the ride this book took me and bloody hell yes there is a cliff hanger at the end and will have you begging for more.

I also had the pleasure of geting to find out more About Alina in her Author Interview she willing did for this blog.

Questions

1) Please tell me a little bit about yourself?

Hi Hayley, thanks for having me here. I’m Alina, I’m a writer, I drink too much coffee, I have a dog, I love travelling, and I’m a book worm. I’ve been reading since I was about five years old and never plan on stopping.

2) How old were you when you first started writing?
I was ten when I started writing, it was this book I was working on with a boy I had a crush on. We used to read and play together during our summer holidays. When the summer was over and I went back home, I continued to write on my own. There was a lot of fighting in my first novel, ninjas and karate and things like that.

3) Which genre do you love to read?
I read books from all genres. I do tend to prefer fantasy and science fiction, but I have tried books in any genre there is. I don’t think you can call yourself a true book worm before you try it all at least once.

4) When was your novel published?
My first novel has just been published. The Edge of Hope, the first book of the Bad Blood Trilogy, was released on April 3rd.

5) How do you feel having your novel published and out for sale?
It was an incredible rush, it’s the sort of high nothing else can compare to. It had been planning it for a while, but having it happen for real, nothing could have prepared me for it. I know I will be excited about each book I release, but there’s something about your first…

6) Who are your favourite characters in your book? Why?
Well, I can’t not love Alexa, she’s basically me in so many ways. As an adult, I’ve never written a character that’s so close to who I am and I don’t think I will again. I also happen to have a very soft spot for Anthony, even if he’s the baddie of the book. He just is the sort of character that just needs a big hug and someone to keep him in line.

7) Where do you get your inspiration for your books?
It’s usually things that happen to me or to people around me. It does not have to be something big, maybe a feeling I experience at some point, or a situation, or a setting I am exposed to, images, songs, or scents. Sometimes they spark an idea in my mind, and I just lay back and watch it unfold. When I have the story in my head, I start writing it.

8) What do you do when you get writer’s block?
I usually work on multiple books at the same time, and that is the best solution I have. Even if I get stuck on one project, I still have the others. It rarely happens that I don’t feel like writing any of them. I have a bigger problem with finding time to write than finding inspiration.

9) What advice could you give someone who aspired to be a writer?
I’d say take it seriously and take yourself seriously, and never give up. Yes, we won’t all make it as successful writers, but the thing about dreams is that you have to see them through. Better to know you tried and it didn’t go that well that to regret never doing it.

10) What interested you to start doing blogs?
I started blogging a long time ago, about a decade actually. It was pre-Facabook times, if you can imagine. There weren’t as many blogs out there, but it was so fun, the first way I had to meet people through their writing. I’ve been working in marketing and PR ever since they were still trying to figure out how to work this social media thing and a lot of times it just came naturally to me.
When I launched my author website, it came with a blog, naturally. It was how I started to promote other authors. Doing a blog tour seemed like a perfect opportunity to promote my novel. I did organize quite a few blog tours for other authors before doing mine, but I have to say, doing your own tour is a whole other story. It takes a lot of work into planning it and carrying it out.
11) What do you mainly blog about?
I blog about writing, books I read, fun stuff related to writing or books. I also sign up for a lot of blog tours, book releases, or cover reveals. I love promoting other authors, especially the ones I love. My favourite thing to do is interview them. I did some Facebook interviews that went out great and I plan on doing more.
12) Please tell me 3 things that are not commonly known about yourself?
Oh, that’s a tough one! Been talking a lot about me on this tour and I am usually very open about… everything. Let’s see, I hate moving with a passion, did too much of it during university and afterwards while I was living in Bucharest. At the same time, I love travelling. I don’t mind packing bags for a trip at all. A bit of a weird combination if you think about it. Although I’m a total geek, I’ve studied humanities in both high school and university. Somehow most of my jobs and clients were from the IT industry and I even worked in tech support. And the third one? I’m allergic to almost all metals.
